Since satay is so popular in Kajang, even the Chinese have also set up own business to sell satay. There is a stall owned by Chinese in Malaysia Restaurant known as Nyok Lan Kajang Satay that serves the usual meat such as mutton, chicken, beef and fish satay. The peanut sauce that comes together with the satay is slightly different from other stalls as it is mixed with sambal. Therefore, for those who like something sweet and spicy, Nyok Lan Kajang Satay is definitely your choice.

 

Besides satay, you can also get cheap and delicious food in Kajang. Chinese cuisines are also famous in Kajang. To get a taste of Chinese Hakka cuisines in Kajang, head down to Mine Restaurant located in the village of Broga. Situated about 20 minutes from Semenyih town, this restaurant serves extensive home-cooked food selection. Instead of heading down to Penang for good Chinese Hakka food, you can now drop by Broga for mouth-watery dishes.

 

Some of the highly recommended cuisines are steamed fish, stir fried mantis prawns, claypot drunken chicken and sweet potato leaves cooked with sambal belacan. Unlike other restaurants serving steamed fish, the fishes here are breed from a nearby pond. Thus, the steamed fish is always fresh and is suitable for health conscious individuals since it is not too oily.

 

Meanwhile, the stir fried mantis prawns or more commonly known as 'Lai Liu Har' in Cantonese are served with dried chillies. This is a must try local specialty. Another notable dish served here is the claypot drunken chicken. This fragrant dish is cooked with the traditional rice wine.

 

Finally, the sweet potato leaves fried with sambal belacan is also another must try as the leaves here are much bigger in size. Perhaps, the biggest factor that attracts visitors from other parts of the city to flock into this restaurant is its affordable price.

 

Another highly recommended restaurant by the Malaysian food blog is 7 Wonders Kitchen. The signature dishes here are fried rice and Zha Jiang Mian. What is so special about fried rice here? Basically, there are several tasty fried rice served here – Grandmother Fried Rice and Mother Fried Rice. Generally, Mother Fried Rice is cooked with spicy and sour sauce. Other ingredients used are chicken and prawns as well as green pepper. Therefore, Mother Fried Rice is highly recommended for those who love spicy food.

 

The other signature dish – Zha Jiang Mian which is only RM4 taste just like any other ordinary fried sauce noodles. But then again, those who love spicy food can order the super hot Sze Chuan Zha Jiang Mian. Ever heard of boxing chicken? Each piece that costs only RM1 is the biggest selling point of this unique dish. Make sure you eat it while the chicken is still hot and crispy. Located off Jalan Bukit, make sure you arrive early as the restaurant is packed with students during dinner time.
